| The article presents and discusses the main ideas of M.I. Tugan-Baranovsky on the problem of societal reproduction, e.g. theory of industrial cycle and economic crises, concepts of value and distribution of the national product. The author shows how significant was the input of the Russian scholar into the theory of the corresponding branches of the economic science as a whole. A conclusion is made about the connection of M.I. Tugan-Baranovsky ideas with the theory of cycle, which was formed in later decades, and the continuity of the scholar’s ideas in contemporary socio-economic science | Key words: M.I.
