| The author focuses on the attitude to interest taking in the economic ethics of old believers, discusses the contradiction between interest-baring loan in the Orthodox patristic tradition and the economic practice of merchants and trustees of old believer communes. In spite of the use of interest-baring loan in the practice of old believer merchants, old believers generally preserved the Christian spirit of interest prohibition.
