| The article discusses methodological foundations of institutionalism and compares the major components of this theory’s nucleus with analogous components of neoclassical and Keynesian approaches in economic theory. The author shows that in spite of the large heuristic potential of institutional methodology the institutional economic theory does not yet present a conglomerate of the theory of transactional costs, the theory of contracts, the theory of organization, and the new evolutionary theory | Key words: methodology, neo-institutional theory, evolutionary economic theory, institutes, institutional environment, malfunctions of institutes | |
