| The article analyzes the crisis of neoclassical school of economics, discusses the possibilities and the ways of reviving the classical political economy with its focus on economic relations and the application of reproductive analytical approach. Broadening of the problem field of contemporary political economy is necessitated by the new economic phenomena and tendencies that should be taken into consideration; with this regard, particular attention is paid to the correlation between the universal and specific tendencies of economic development, corresponding to the political economy of the universal and the political economy of the specific as the two components of the knowledge in political economy.
