The caste: oppressive inequality or well-coordinated system of production relations? (India, Goa)
The caste system underlies Indian traditions, psychology, everyday life; one is born within a certain caste, is raised and marries within it, gives one’s children names according to the norms of the caste, follows the ritual scenario determined by one’s particular caste, etc. The author describes the system of castes as a determining factor of Indian social relations starting with the 2 millennium BC
