| The article presents results of the analysis of supply and demand on the uranium market and dynamics of the price change for this strategic resource. The authors define the major market participants, present the evaluation of uranium resources around the world, and stress the steady tendency of decreasing the prices for uranium, which is seen as an inhibiting factor of geological prospecting works as well as the investors’ refusal to develop new uranium sites due to their low profitability. While the full cycle of a mining enterprise from the initial site exploration to the beginning of the resource extraction may amount to 15 years, there exists an urgent necessity to engage as many uranium extraction enterprises as possible; the largest of such enterprises in Russia is the Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, mining at Strel’stovskoe ore field | Key words: uranium, deposit, extraction, uranium extraction enterprises, nuclear energy production, demand, supply, resources | Pages: 159 - 162 |
