| Stable regional jewelry brands, well known throughout Russia, have been formed in Yakutia in the course of a long history of support rendered to cutting and jewelry production industry. However, imperfect laws and regulation in the sphere of gemstone turnover deter the development of jewelry industry in Yakutia and discriminate Russia producers on the international jewelry market. Liberalization of the Russian diamond market started in 2009, initiated by the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).
