| The article focuses on specific features of territorial branch structure in the economy of the subjects of Russia’s Far East Federal okrug, situated in three socio-economic zones (“Northern,” “Southern” and “Western”). The branch structure of the okrug features a high degree of industrial types of economy (mineral extraction, processing enterprises, production and distribution of electric energy, gas and water, etc.), as well as transportation and communication. Higher average per capita monetary income is characteristic to all Far East subjects, especially in the “Northern” and the “Western” zones. Moreover, the economy of mineral extraction is characterized through the highest positive economic (financial) results in all subjects of the Far East okrug. The article argues that development of processing enterprises and infrastructural objects should be viewed as the most rational direction in the process of improving the region’s territorial branch structure. | Key words: regional economy, regional differentiation, new economic geography, Gini index, agglomeration effect, social justice, economic efficacy, cumulative effect | Pages: 124 - 131 |
