Tobacco epidemics and its impact upon demographic processes in Russia

Based on the data of global monitoring systems and international research focusing on development in the countries of tobacco epidemics, the article demonstrates the role of tobacco epidemic consequences such as population decline among the groups of the highest working ability and shorter life expectancy. Economic damage caused by smoking to public health-care and economy in general may be successfully diminished or prevented through more active anti-tobacco politics and complex monitoring of its implementation.
