| The article analyzes the major problems related to the self-development of rural territories in the regions of Russia’s Norther-Western Federal okrug and distinguishes potential for self-development in the context of digital economy due to the increase of entrepreneurial activity of the local population alongside with the preservation of the territory’s authentic features. The authors present theoretical aspects of analysis of self-developing regions in accordance with the methodology offered by the Russian scholars.
