| The article describes the institutional infrastructure of the “digital economy” in the Russian Federation with regards to the legal regulations on digitalization as the key component of the institutional infrastructure that define distribution of property rights among economic subjects and laying out guidelines for interaction among the economic institution of the contemporary technological generation. Based on the institutional analysis of the key legal acts regulating digitalization in the Russian Federation, as well as legislative projects to be adopted, the author discusses reasons for the low efficacy of digitalization in Russia. Initiatives of the Russian business-community aiming at creating formal institutions of digitalization demonstrate the importance of increasing competitiveness and support of the national security of the country’s economy.
