| The article presents a complex analysis of the tourist sector in Russia based on the international competitiveness index and the Strategy of Tourism Development of the Russian Federation for the period till 2035. The authors offer measures that can help increase the role of the sector in the country’s dynamic development, augment its innovative and export potential and decrease regional inequality. Drawbacks in the state politics in the tourist sphere result from the unstable structure and heavy bureaucracy of institutions and the lack of strategic recommendation in the most significant tourist sectors (ecologic, cultural, youth, business, wellness tourism). The article emphasizes modernization of the existing regulation in the sphere of tourism and in the structure of its state regulation, including revision of a number of legal acts and support of initiatives to integrate regional tourism into state programs. | Key words: tourist services, competitiveness index, strategies of tourist development, state politics in the sphere of tourism, regional economy | Pages: 157 - 162 |
