|The article focuses on the market of consulting services and its competitiveness in the present-day context, analyzes the specificities of consulting services and offers their new interpretation, including the new formulation of the notion of “consulting.” The authors develop classification of differentiating principles of consulting services, offer indices of the market’s attractiveness, and enumerate obstacles that prevent competition and lower its efficacy. Formation of the competitive milieu on the market of consulting services is a key condition not only for the purposes of consumer satisfaction, but for the increase of the role of consulting for Russian economy. The article emphasized the importance of a more active state involvement in the market for consulting services
