| The article focuses relationships between economic development and the global economic crisis, analyzes the ecological problems of EEU countries, and discusses sustainable development of EEU in the unity of its economic, ecological and social components. The author describes the mechanism of international regulation of land use and analyzes sustainable development in EEC countries on the basis of the following criteria: sustainability of the society, ecological efficacy, progress towards the aims of sustainable development.
