| The major condition facilitating formation of the “economy of knowledge” in the contemporary world is production, proliferation and application of new knowledge. The authors distinguish specific features of the “economy of knowledge” that make it different from the preceding socio-economic models, such as developed spheres of education, scholarship and technologies; processes of their integration and commercialization; intellectual nature of labor; development of network structures and informational technologies. The article dwells on the issues of globalization and integration as ubiquitous phenomena of the contemporary economy. It shows that the dynamic and progressive development of the “economy of knowledge” can guarantee speedy transition to the sixth technological order, characterized through such features as bio- and nano-technologies, cognitive technologies, alternative energy production, and others. | Key words: economy of knowledge, informational economy, education, scholarship, innovations, globalization, network structures | Pages: 22 - 25 |
