| The article discusses the Baltic region as one of the most developed transnational macro-regions, with the region formation process continuing on the basis of strengthening and developing of various ties among the economic subjects of the region, institutions of the social sphere, non-commercial organizations and organs of political power. An important role in this process is played by the sea-shore cities of the region, composing the nucleus of the Union of Baltic cities.
