| The article focuses on the problems of Russia’s rural territories, such as unemployment, low quality of life and low salaries. All this makes rural dwellers migrate to large cities, which is harmful for the regional economy. Research conducted by the authors in one region of the Republic of Karelia shows that local people are interested in working via the Internet, and would like to get more knowledge in this sphere.
