Investements into “green” energy production: global trends and Russia
(Russia, Moscow)
The article focuses on the major tendencies in the sphere of global investment into renewable energy production. International community expresses an ever growing interest in improving the “green” technologies in this sphere, since renewable energy decreases the negative environmental impact and thus helps solving global ecological problems. In 2018 the world invested twice as much into the area of renewable energy production than into new facilities using organic and nuclear fuel together. The authors present a list of countries leading in the investments into renewable energy over the period between 2010 and 2018. The authors describe scholarly research and technological development with regard to solar and wind energy production that currently experience to most rapid growth, and estimate global expenditures on science-and-technology developments in the “green” energy production over the last decade. The cost of energy production based on renewable sources decreases — yet the investment activity in the sphere of “green” energy production likewise slows down due to withdrawal or reduction of state support of “green” investors in a number of countries. In Russia, however, the year of 2018 demonstrated increase in innovative and investment activity; in this sphere in spite of the relatively small share of energy production based on renewable sources, the country is making successful steps in this sphere.
Key words: ecologic problems, renewable energy sources, electric energy production, financing of “green” science-and-technology developments, global ecologic problems
