| The article analyzes the role and the place of natural monopolies in Russian economy and evaluates the efficacy of state regulation of natural monopolies in the country. Specificity of state regulation of natural monopolies consist primarily in the impossibility of competition and hence the direct nature of actions that the state applies to them. State regulation should take into account interests of several partners: the state itself, natural monopolies, business, and consumers.
