| The article focuses on the growing tendencies in the sphere of decarbonization of the energy sector in the European Union, describes the place of decarbonization in the hierarchy of the EU’s economic politics, and distinguishes specific features of this process. Analysis of subsidies into renewable energy sources and natural gas in EU allows to assess the degree of state involvement in EU’s decarbonization process. Based on the analysis of decarbonization tempos in 27 EU countries, the article identifies regional specificities of this process and factors facilitating higher speed of the process.
