| | | The article focuses on the sustainable development of the Arctic territories of the circumpolar countries that have their territorial waters and exclusive economic zones in the Arctic Ocean. The importance of such research stems from the necessity to study specific features in the development of Arctic territories for the purposes of forming a complex approach to the development of Russia’s Arctic zone. The authors develop and test a methodology of analysis with regards to sustainable development of territories on the basis of the integral index, consisting of an aggregation of particular indices that reflect various spheres of development of the objects under study. The test the described methodology, the authors collected statistic data that characterize objects under analysis over the period between 2000 and 2019. To justify indices of territorial development, the authors used the concept of sustainable development that has been recently implemented on a broad scale. Analysis conducted showed that in no single circumpolar country their Arctic territories do not reach the index of development close to “1.” This means that Arctic territories require further development. | | Key words: Arctic territories, circumpolar country, sustainable development, sustainable development index | | Pages: 55 - 58 |
