| | | The article analyzes economical and ecological factors that impact formation and development of the closed-cycle economy as a new form of economic activity that eventually leads to a more sustainable regional development. The main purpose of economic development is the increase of the quality and level of life of the population. Currently this integral index is determined not only by economic parameters, but by a number of other components, of which ecology is an important one. With this regard, one should prioritize theoretical and practical research of the systems of reproduction that allow for the guaranteed economic growth with the preservation of the natural and ecological potential. The choice of the new model of economic development is emphasized in Russia also by the politics of sanctions and the diminishing of export revenues. Circular economy fully meets the current economic challenges, while allowing to decrease of dependency of the economic growth from the resource-intensive production and consumption, which in its own turn facilitates the economic and ecologic development of the Russian regions by decreasing the level of environmental pollution.
