| | | Currently, three transportation flows of the Eurasian corridor that go through the territory of the Russian Federation enjoy a priority development; two of those, the Trans-Siberian railway and the highway created within the Federal project “Europe — West China” have relation to St. Petersburg. According to the governmental decrees, the marine ports of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region should increase their capacity with regards to the economically justified reserves in order to cope with the increasing volumes of cargo transportation. The next logistic step is the creation of the Russian container line for the marine stretch of the transportation corridor in the Baltic Sea region. The article offers a methodology to evaluate the content and the major technological characteristics of ships, which will eventually allow to assess the economic efficiency of the container fleet.
