| Based on the concept of ontological security, as well as on R. Jervis’ perception theory, the authors distinguish the key elements of the narratives produced by the expert academic community of the Russian Federation about control over strategic weapons, and trace the dynamics of these narratives’ transformation against the changes in Russian-American relations starting with the beginning of their “rebooting.” Narratives produced by some groups of the Russian expert community in the sphere of non-proliferation of the weapon of mass destruction (WMD) and arms control sometimes present a factor that weakens the negotiation positions of official delegations with regard to the most topical questions in the strategic dialogue agenda. | Key words: arms control, disarmament, non-proliferation of the weapon of mass destruction, strategic dialogue, expert community, Russia, USA, ontological security, track II and track I.5 diplomacy | Pages: 120 - 125 |
