PROBLEMS OF MARKETING. LOGISTICS
Tanichev A. V.
Assistant Professor, Chair of Economics, Organization, and Enterprise Management, D.F. Ustinov Baltic State Technological University (“Voenmeh”) (St. Petersburg), PhD (Economics)

Introduction of the responsible consumption model as the basis for improving the quality of life (Russia, St. Petersburg)
The article focuses on the improvement of the quality of life in the period of the global recognition and acceptance of the sustainable development imperative. Consumption is seen as a starting category in the dialectical pair “consumption — production”; intentional management of consumption, with regard to the primacy of non-productive consumption, maybe attained through the transition from the model of consumption sovereignty, dominating in the consumer society, to the model of responsible consumption. This transition should be supported by state and public institutions that produce their impact both through directive instruments (consumption rationing) and through indicative tools of endogenous and exogenous nature (upbringing responsible consumers or consumer-citizens). The author shows the role of analysis with regard to the dominating social paradigm in the critical evaluation of the state of the society.
Key words: social paradigm, imperative of sustainable development, mental construct of sustainability, responsible consumption, model of consumer sovereignty, consumer-citizen, quality of life
