Development of the market for “green bonds” in Hong Kong (Russia, St. Petersburg)
The article focuses on an understudied theme of formation and development of the “green bonds” market in Hong Kong, one of the largest financial centers in Asia. The author discusses the steps undertaken by governmental bodies towards implementation of the contemporary “green” debt instruments to achieve sustainable development of this special administrative region of China. The article discusses advantages of Hong Kong financial system defined by deep regional and international business relations, financial might of its institutions and broad political support. The author distinguishes the major directions in the development of the “green bonds” market in Hong Kong, which will facilitate strengthening of its position as one of the largest centers of “green” financing in Asian Pacific region and in Asia as a whole.
