| | | The article looks at various roles of a contemporary pedagogue, emphasizes the importance to introduce the notion of “universal pedagogue” as a person developed comprehensively and harmoniously and as such presenting an example for people around him. Development of the present-day society presents certain requirements to the representatives of various professions: the world changes, and with it the content of the professional activity. Profession of a pedagogue is particularly sensitive to these changes. Development of scholarship and emergence of new technologies transforms the professional roles of a pedagogue – for instance, apart of the classical roles of a scholar, mentor and tutor, a contemporary pedagogue should also become a media personality (one has to be active in various types of media), constant student (one has to master new technologies, sometimes alongside with the students) and pedagogue-practitioner (e.g., conducting one’s own business parallel to the teaching activity). | | Key words: professional role of a pedagogue, pedagogical cadres, educational institutions, universal pedagogue, teacher | | Pages: 210 - 213 |
