The author shows that electric energy, according to its characteristics, is ideally suited for the role of a consumer basket to be used in assessing the purchasing power of currencies. The article proposes cost indicators and energy equivalents of electric energy prices and formulas for their calculation, on the basis of which the values of the value of foreign currencies in ruble equivalent are calculated at purchasing power parity. The author presents results of the assessment of the value of the currencies of the BRICS countries by purchasing power parity in ruble equivalent and the results of comparison with the market value of the currencies of the BRICS countries and offers some proposals for the implementation of energy equivalents of electricity prices to assess the value of currencies at parity | Key words: BRICS, electricity, energy equivalent of electricity prices, currency value, kilowatt-hour, currency valuation, purchasing power of currencies | Pages: 112 - 116 |
