Effective positioning and development of Russian regions in accordance with the concept of the “smart city” (Russia, St. Petersburg)
The article focuses on the application of the concept “smart city” to form the economic potential and marketing attractiveness of the territory. The authors analyze various concepts of the “smart city” and draw parallels between this concept and the concepts of effective positioning of the territory focused on creating a strong territorial brand. Various concepts of territorial management, such as the “smart city,” breakthrough positioning, digital city, “digital urbanism” possess a number of common elements. The integrated use of these overlapping elements of territorial development can ensure the growth of economic potential and marketing attractiveness of territories, and a result, an influx of capital into the territory and further economic growth. Present-day residents and guests of a megalopolis demonstrate a high demand for nature areas withing the city itself; the application of positioning will significantly increase the prospects for the promotion of territories and effectively complement the application of the “smart city” concept.
