Attracting specialized companies to recruiting international students:
problems, present-day situation and trends (Russia, St. Petersburg)
The article analyzes the activities of companies recruiting foreign applicants and their place in the international education market. The task of the companies is to provide consulting services to potential students, on the one hand, and student recruitment services for educational organizations, on the other. Research conducted shows that by 2020 about half of those studying abroad used the services of private companies to organize training in the leading countries exporting educational services, but this share is significantly higher for individual countries and universities. In Russia, the involvement of specialized companies in the recruitment of foreign students in priority admission countries has so far been little studied. The present study fills in the gaps in this area and may be in demand by the international services of Russian universities as part of improving the effectiveness of the system of recruitment of foreign students at the present stage.
Key words: international education market, public-private partnerships, companies and agencies for the recruitment of foreign students, outsourcing, export of educational services, foreign students, educational organizations, recruitment of foreign applicants, agency theory
