| The article analyzes T. Piketty’s theory of the causes of socio-economic inequality in the global economy, shows the ambiguous impact of globalization on increasing inequality in the world and examines the impact of digitalization upon the growth of inequality within individual countries. The author demonstrates the expansion of flexible, temporary and “atypical” forms of employment in the digital economy and, as a result, the weakening of trade unions and the strengthening of socio-economic inequality, discusses the impact produced by the platform economy upon the reduction of the middle class, and concludes that the strengthening of the market power of digital giant corporations increases economic inequality. Particular attention is given to the concept of “digital inequality” and the ways to reduce socio-economic inequality in the digital economy. | Key words: «Piketty’s inequality», global inequality, socio-economic inequality, platform capitalism, digital economy, digital inequality | Pages: 62 - 66 |
