| The article presents an attempt to develop a methodology for measuring health as capital, the effectiveness of its accumulation and use — an attempt that came across a variety of interpretations of health capital and the uncertainty in the formulations of such characteristics of capital that make its measurement impossible. The authors argue that in this situation one has to turn once again to the content of the concepts of health and capital; to justify economic “intervention” into the sphere of health (not health care, but precisely health), which is usually perceived in a purely medical way. The article emphasizes the necessity to move forward along the path of forming the same understanding of health as capital. | Key words: health as capital, health, human capital, methodology of health measurement | Pages: 72 - 74 |
