| The paper focuses on the features of the development of the economic structure in the cities of the Far Eastern Federal District, located in two socio-economic zones (“coastal” and “continental”). According to the number of permanent residents, the author distinguishes the largest, large, medium and small cities, with various types of economic activities. Their interconnected functioning and development of elements of the urban economy structure allows speaking about the formation of industrial nodes of various sizes and specialization. In the industrial hubs that are formed in the cities of the “coastal” zone, the leading role belongs to marine economic activities (marine transport, fisheries, shipbuilding and ship repair, offshore oil and gas production, etc.). In the cities of the “continental” zone, preferential development is characteristic to mechanical engineering, railway transport, mining and agro-industrial activities, and energy production. At the same time, in cities located in both zones, the development of manufacturing industries and infrastructure facilities should be seen as the most rational direction for improving the economic structure of industrial hubs in the Far Eastern Federal District. | Key words: economic structure, types of economic activity, “continental” and “coastal” socio-economic zones, industrial hubs of the Far Eastern Federal District | Pages: 102 - 106 |
