| | | The article discusses contradictions of the gross domestic product (GDP) as a basic indicator of economic growth. The contradictions are revealed between the growth assessment of the dynamics of real GDP in absolute terms and per capita. There is an impact on the assessment of the real GDP of the methodology for calculating price indices. The authors observe the contradiction of qualitative growth: the expansion of the product assortment and structural shifts in the economy are accompanied in market conditions by the emergence of the “planned obsolescence” of goods and an increase in consumption race.
