| The article defines a significant impact of changes in the age demographic structure of China upon the transformation of the country’s economy. The work focuses on the demographic trends, economic challenges and opportunities associated with the increasing share of people of retirement age in the total population. The study emphasizes how investments in the development of a “silver” economy — from health and education to leisure and tourism — contribute to sustainable economic growth, increasing the standard of living and social well-being of the elderly citizens.
