| | | Based on the works of Russian and foreign neo-Marxist scholars, the article shows that present-day processes of globalization, digitalization and financialization caused a powerful concentration and centralization of capital on a global scale, strengthening the main contradiction of capitalism. The author focuses on the discussion between neo-Marxist economists regarding the cause of economic crises in the digital economy and argues that the cyclic crisis is expressed in the lack of balance in the macroeconomic, institutional and social environment, as well as between the real and virtual sectors of the economy. The article demonstrates that digitalization has changed the structure of the world economies, reducing the industry sector that gives the multiplication effect to the economic growth — while the service sector has sharply increased, which complicates the mass renewal of fixed capital at the stage of crisis overcoming and moving towards rapid growth. Modern cyclic crisis is accompanied by crises of restructuring, as well as financial and environmental crises. The use of digital technologies is not able to eliminate the contradictions of capitalism. | | Key words: economic crisis, cyclic crisis, globalization of the economy, digitalization of the economy, financialization of the economy, the main contradiction of capitalism, concentration and centralization of capital, neo-Marxism | | Pages: 62 - 67 |
