| | | Introduction of elements of the green economy, such as “green” buildings, into the economy of a modern city is a critical step towards achieving sustainable development. The authors focus on the case of Singapore as a city-state that has already achieved significant success in this area, becoming a world leader in the field of innovative and environmentally-oriented urban planning. “Green” buildings offer many advantages, including saving resources, improving the environmental situation and thus the quality of life. They also contribute to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and decreasing dependence on fossil energy sources. Due to these factors, “green” buildings become an integral part of the strategy for sustainable development of cities around the world. | | Key words: “green” buildings and structures, sustainable development, green economy, the economy of the modern city, quality of life, Singapore | | Pages: 224 - 227 |
