The problem of estimating the volume of global trade in plastic waste (Russia, St. Petersburg)
The article examines the problems of estimating the volume of global trade in plastic waste based on the UN statistical database on trade in goods. In addition to taking into account the commodity category of plastic waste (HS 3915), the article proposes to use other categories of waste containing plastic polymers, adjusted for their concentration, established in accordance with the expert assessment method. The result of the study is the calculation of adjusted values of net exports of plastic waste in the leading countries of the world for 2023 and their comparison with indicators using traditional estimation methods.
Key words: plastic waste, circular economy, recycled materials, harmonized system of description and coding of goods, international trade
